I did the theme prompt on going someplace that doesn’t exist anymore. Of course this actually happened and like an idiot I really did ask someone that question. But I was there in the 70s. I impersonated Ray Wylie Hubbard and got backstage at a Willie Nelson concert. I was talking to Willie and there was a roar of applause and he said “oh shit I think I have to go, can you finish my beer.“ And he handed me his lone star long neck, I was 17 so Willie Nelson contributed to my delinquency as a minor. Earlier I went to the bathroom under the stage and there was a guitar case between the sinks so I opened it up and got to strum “trigger“. I thought about signing it, no one was around and I had a pen, but I decided against it.

Kenny asked if I want to take a trip

To Austin city limits

Seen it on TV never been there

But it is one of my favorites

So we hit the road

To a nice abode

Not far from Willys statue

We saw the show

Joe Bonamasso

And had some Texas barbecue

We hit the continental club

But McMurtry wasn’t there

So we did the walk down fifth Street

I fit right in I swear to

Until I asked a passerby

Where’s armadillo world headquarters?

They laughed and laughed and wondered why

I would ask about the past

You’re in a time warp buddy

That place it didn’t last

You’re about 44 years too late

But back then it was really great

Some of the best things are long gone

Now Kenny is long gone too

So look for the things that are there today

Because that’s all that’s really true

I guess I’m saying be here now

But I hope Willie makes 92
