The Deep Dark South

Don’t make me go back to the deep dark south

The ghosts that are there I can live without

My blood was spilled on that deep dark earth

My soul was killed where I was given birth

The land is claustrophobic

and the minds are too

The intellect anemic

A place I outgrew

The echos can still be heard

In the babbling of the absurd

It was so suffocating

I forgot how to breathe

So Manipulating

I forgot I was free
