The Weirdest Gift

The most unusual gift
I ever got
it can’t be sold
and it can’t be bought
The gift of life
Can’t be refused
it’s very fragile
and quite confused

Nobody knows why we’re here

With the invisible puppeteer
The present is the present
it’s all there really is
The past goes by so fast
The future is a quiz
but you never know with this thing called life
if we’re almost done or we will survive
sometimes you think it’s winding down
But maybe it’s never ending

But death is always pending

The sands of time are spending

A week, a month, a decade older

And then it’s over
